Comfortable clothes

Since you are going to have a long-haul train ride, make sure to wear comfortable clothes. Choose outfit that allow you to move freely. It’s best to pick clothes that are not too tight to avoid overly restrict your body and blood flow. Choose clothes that are comfortable to sleep but still stylish enough to make you stay confident. 

Functional outwear

It’s also strongly recommended to pack functional outwear for your long-distance train trip. You don’t know when you will possibly encounter freezing temperatures. Even the weather during spring can still feel chilly. Consider packing a convertible down jacket that you can also use as travel pillow when you feel warm enough. Also pack a slip-on boot just in case you encounter chilly weather and you need your feet to stay warm. 

Sleep essentials

You also need to have a good night’s rest during a long-distance train trip so you’d better be prepared with your sleep essentials. If you used to wear eye mask, then pack it. You may also pack other sleep essentials that you usually use to fall asleep easily such as ear plugs, a pair of socks, and travel blanket. Don’t be embarrassed to pack unusual sleep essential. It’s better to feel a little embarrassed rather than having panda-eyes due to lack of sleep. 

Foods and water

Even though the train usually has its canteen or cafe car, you can pack your own foods. So you don’t have to worry about your meals if you have particular preference. At least pack some snacks that you can easily grab when you feel hungry but not hungry enough to eat heavy meals. You may pack some nut bars, bag of dried fruits, chocolate bar, and other non-perishable foods. Pack your own bottled-water as well to stay hydrated.

Personal items and Entertainment sources

Pack your own personal items to keep good hygiene during such a long-haul train ride. Pack travel toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, lotion, moisturizer, sunscreen, lip balm, and any prescription. Add a gadget loaded with entertainment packages such as movies, podcasts, music, games, etc. Hence, you have something to do when you feel bored watching the landscape passing by.
