Due to the global pandemic, we have been limited to travel freely. We cannot just go to some places without knowing if it is safe or not to do so. Travelling is considered to be one of the factors that can spread the coronavirus because it can transfer from one person to another especially since travel means there is high chance of exposure to a big crowd. Stay-at home orders are made to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus. However, in some places the order has been lifted gradually even if the spread has not really stopped. Thus, it is still considered essential to travel with cautions. 

Safety tips for travelling by train

There are many alternatives you can choose to travel. It is pretty hard to decide which one is the safest since each type of travel has its own risk of exposure to the virus. Many consider airplane to be the safest transportaation to travel due to well air circulation and air filtration system. However, travelling by plane also means you have to go to the airport and still at risk of contacting virus because of the crowds or the lines you have to go through.

Train usually carries lots of people in one trip. Thus, it is pretty challenging to maintain procedure of social distancing. However, you can also take some necessary precaution to travel by train safely still. The most important thing to remember is to stay out of the crowd. In any transportation whether it is plane, bus, or train, there are new regulations to limit the number of passenger.

Mind to check every travelling option

However, the big risk is when you are in a public place such as airport or station. If you have to travel by train, it is strongly advised to keep distance. Compared to the airport, the crowd is most likely to appear fewer. Not to mention that there are not many procedures passengers should pass through before taking train unlike airplane passenger who have to go through security check and all. 

It is still encouraged for those who travel by train to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure to decrease the risk of making unnecessary crowd. Always practice social distancing and keep distance within 6 feet with others. 

How to tackle the virus

It is a must to wear a mask to protect yourself and others from your home even when you are already inside the cabin of the train. Filtration system in the train is already sophisticated to continuously refresh the the space. However, it won’t truly protect you from contacting the virus. There is still a risk. Thus, always use the mask. It is encouraged to bring your own hand-sanitizer or disinfectant wipes so you can clean your hands and the surface around your seat. This can minimize the risk of contacting the virus. If there are passengers who neglect social distancing rules by staying too close to you, politely ask them to move, or you can move yourself. Remember that the transfer of the virus is mostly bu person to person.
