  1. Always research your destination before the trip. Planning and researching your trip can be exciting as well. You get to decide various decisions yourself and fulfill your dream travel. Doing research can also means you are being aware of the safety of yourself. You need to make sure to read some reviews before choosing particular lodging or tour package to book. You also need to know how will you get around the places and what kind of transportation will be safe to take.
  2. Do not bring valuables like jewelry or way too expensive items to your trip. Leave those things at home. Aside from preventing them being stolen, it can prevent you from being a target of crimes at your travel destination. However, there might be other valuables you should bring such as DSLR or smartphone. Thus, make sure to keep your valuables on you especially during transit.
  3. Be sociable but don’t trust people too easily. Being in new places surrounded by new people can be intimidating especially if you are a solo female traveler. You can be friendly when interact with the people you just met during your trip. However, don’t trust them too quickly to the point you let them hold your bag or valuables. For example, it is better to pay for pickup service when you are going to land in a rough city in the middle of the night instead of taking a taxi or bus. Or, it is better to book a hotel located in safer neighbourhood with a little higher price instead of booking much cheaper hotel room in rough neighbourhood when your safety will be at higher risk.
